Nothing is better than a day of fun and sun, running in the waves, building sand castles, and hanging out with friends and family. What better place to host your party? After the tanning, eating, and drinking, get everyone on their feet and involved in some awesome games that will have them laughing and enjoying the company. Here are some fun games you can play at the beach.
Bucket Relay Race
Get two large beach buckets and two plastic cups. Divide your guests into two teams. Place the two buckets away from the water’s edge. Ready, set, go…and the first person on each team fills their cup with water and runs to the larger bucket, emptying the cup. Then they run back, pass the cup off, and the next person goes to fill the cup and then runs up to the bucket. This repeats until one team fills their large bucket first for the win.
Buried Treasure
What better place than the beach to search for a treasure? Before leaving for the beach, plan ahead with a small plastic storage container and fill it with coins, costume jewelry, a gift card, small beach toys, etc. Then, at the beach, bury the plastic container in a place you’ll remember. Write out some clues to give to people that will lead them to the buried treasure. Hand out sand shovels along with the clues so they can dig up their find. The person or team that digs up the treasure wins the contents.
Beach Volleyball
Most any public beach you go to has volleyball nets. And, if not, you can bring your own volleyball net and set up your own game. Bring our own volleyball and draw off the "court" in the sand, setting the boundaries for what is "in" and what is "out." Choose teams among your guests and play short games in a tournament fashion to pick the overall winner.
Beach Bowling
Pick up a bowling set from a store. Plastic sets will do just fine. You can also make your own set using soda bottles. Just remember to toss them in the garbage when you’re done with them—or recycle them. Set up a bowling "alley" in the sand and use a large beach ball to bowl with. Keep score and the team or person who wins gets a prize.
Shell Sorting
Have the kids spread out and search for seashells. Gather up as many as you can and bring them all back to one location around the party. Draw circles in the sand and place similar shells together to see what everyone has found. As a memento of the day, have plastic or cloth bags for everyone to take an assortment of shells home in.
Beaches are excellent locations for any type of party from family reunions, birthdays, and even bridal and baby showers. Let the sun and ocean be your backdrop for a wonderful day and fun event.
